A Great Opportunity For MATLAB Lovers

Following mentioned an extraction from an email from MATLAB representative subjected on “Complimentary MATLAB Training for KTH”. This is a grand opportunity for KTH student who wish to work with MATLAB.

Hi XXXXX,

My name is XXXXX. I work with MathWorks and I look after KTH.

I would like to inform you that as part of the KTH MATLAB site license, you have access to MATLAB online training at no extra cost. You can learn MATLAB interactively, at you own pace, at the time of your choice. These courses are available to all students and employees at KTH.

Simply register via: MATLAB Academic Online Training

The following courses are available:

MATLAB Fundamentals

“This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the MATLAB® technical computing environment. No prior programming experience or knowledge of MATLAB is assumed. Themes of data analysis, visualization, modeling, and programming are explored throughout the course.”

 MATLAB Programming Techniques

“This course provides hands-on experience using the features in the MATLAB® language to write efficient, robust, and well-organized code. These concepts form the foundation for writing full applications, developing algorithms, and extending built-in MATLAB capabilities. Details of performance optimization, as well as tools for writing, debugging, and profiling code are covered.”

Machine Learning with MATLAB

“This course shows how to use unsupervised learning techniques to discover features in large data sets and supervised learning techniques to build predictive models.”

MATLAB for Data Processing and Visualization

“This course focuses on the details of data management and visualization techniques, from reading arbitrarily formatted text data files to producing customized publication-quality graphics. The course emphasizes how to create scripts that extend the basic features provided by MATLAB®.”

 MATLAB for Financial Applications

“This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the MATLAB® technical computing environment for financial professionals. The course is intended for beginning users and those looking for a review. Themes of data analysis, visualization, modeling, and programming are explored throughout the course, with an emphasis on practical application to finance, such as time-series analysis, Monte Carlo simulation, portfolio management, and analysis.”

Free Webinar: Turbocharge Rotating Machinery Efficiency with Simulation

Time: Oct. 18th, 2016 11:00 AM EST

Resource Persons:

Brad Hutchinson – Global Director, Industry Marketing, Industrial Equipment & Rotating Machinery, ANSYS

Alessandro Arcidiacono – CFD Project Engineer, ENGINSOFT

Moderator: David Walsh – Editor-in-Chief, ASME.org

Rotating machinery users demand increased efficiency, reliability and durability while expecting compliance with regulatory mandates to reduce emissions and noise. Simulation pinpoints solutions and guides trade-offs early in the design process before significant investments have been made. By reducing the need for expensive prototypes and test rigs, simulation delivers better performance at lower cost.

This Webinar will provide insight on:
– Understanding the concept of a virtual prototype and how it reduces development costs while optimizing product performance
– Identifying seven essential features that must be included in a simulation in order to maximize the performance and efficiency
– Learning how ZECO Hydropower used ANSYS simulation tools coupled with high performance computing to develop a new and optimal intake for a Kaplan turbine in half of the usual time. They were able to reduce civil engineering infrastructure costs to ensure they would be competitive in emerging markets.
– Walking through ZECO’s simulation process and results including CFD turbomachinery simulation, parallel computing, parametric modeling, and optimization tools.

Online Short Course – The Impact of Technology

In this course you will learn how to use theories and methods to make predictions of the potential impact of new technology – in general, as well as for a specific application. This will prepare you for the changes that we are facing in society, and also help you take advantage of transformations which are driven by technology. The course takes a broad approach, including social and economic factors. You will study historical examples and learn to recognize recurring patterns and cycles. The curriculum includes general innovation theories, foresight methodology, value chain disruption and strategy. The general process is as follows. First you to learn how to draw a map of the potential future business landscape. After that, you get to identify interesting future business roles in emerging value networks. Finally, we find a path from where we are today to a desired end state. You will analyze how an industry or market may change if the technology which is available today is fully implemented in a 10 to 20 year perspective. In addition, you will identify barriers to such a development and make estimates regarding the timing. The course includes a number of assignments to facilitate your learning – some of them compulsory. The largest assignment is about the introduction of self-driving cars (hence the course icon; source and credit to Google). We all know that the future can’t be fully predicted in detail. However, the methods presented in this course will help you identify potential consequences. In this way, you will get a toolbox for decision making in the areas of technology, investments, career path, research & development or portfolio management.  (Extracted from https://www.coursera.org/learn/impact-of-technology)

Online Short Course – Sustainable Energy: Design a Renewable Future

A transition to sustainable energy is needed for our climate and welfare. In this engineering course, you will learn how to assess the potential for energy reduction and the potential of renewable energy sources like wind, solar and biomass. You’ll learn how to integrate these sources in an energy system, like an electricity network and take an engineering approach to look for solutions and design a 100% sustainable energy system.

This course is an introduction to the Master Programme Sustainable Energy Technology at TU Delft and is aimed at Bachelor students from science and engineering disciplines. (Extracted from https://prod-edx-mktg-edit.edx.org/course/sustainable-energy-design-renewable-delftx-energyx#!)
